Don’t want to jump the gun here, but we may actually get to witness Jake Paul and Tommy Fury finally throw down.
According to reports, a date has been set for their long-awaited grudge match with the two rivals poised to settle their differences inside the ring once and for all.
Combat sports reporter Ariel Helwani was first to announce that the boxing match between the two undefeated fighters will take place on February 25.
It comes as good news to fans, who have been left disappointed when the pair were scheduled to fight on two seperate occasions only for Fury to withdraw from them both.
But it seems third time could very well be the charm with Helwani tweeting: “Jake Paul vs. Tommy Fury is a done deal for Feb. 25, per sources.”
A venue for the bout has not been announced just yet, although a report from The Sun suggests Saudi Arabia could be willing to throw mega-money at promoters in a bid to host.
Either way, (and yes, we can’t quite believe we’re saying this) the fight itself promises to be box office entertainment.
The first initial fight between the pair was booked for December of 2021.
But unfortunately for both men, who were in line to receive nice hefty pay cheques, the scrap collapsed when former Love Island star Fury suffered a bacterial chest infection and a broken rib.
When a second fight was rescheduled for August of 2022, Fury was forced to pull out again when he was denied entry into the United States, the government citing his family’s ties with Irish crime boss Daniel Kinahan.
With talks the recently-booked fight could be held in Britain somewhere, the same problem shouldn’t arise again.
While Paul is still widely regarded as a former Disney actor-turned-YouTuber and Fury is largely viewed as a reality TV star, this fight does have that extra bit of bite to it.
Not only do both fighters boast undefeated records inside the ring, but their relentless trash-talk outside of it has created some serious underlying beef.
At any given opportunity, the duo have traded barbs on social media and even in person – often taking below-the-belt shots at family members.
In perhaps one of the most brutal swipes, Paul took aim at Fury during the announcement that he would be becoming a father.
“Shocking. Tommy usually pulls out,” Paul tweeted in reaction to a social media post revealing the news of Fury’s girlfriend’s pregnancy.
