Molly-Mae Hague had to be told the result of Tommy Fury’s huge fight with Jake Paul on Sunday night, because she couldn’t watch it unfold.
There were plenty of fans inside the Diriyah Arena in Saudi Arabia to see the fight between Ilunga Makabu and Badou Jack, and some of them even stayed to see the novice fight that was on afterwards.
In that one, 8-0 Mancunian boxer Fury fought American Paul, who went into the fight with an unbeaten 6-0 record, after mainly beating some people who’d never previously boxed professionally.
That 8-10 round made it very tight as to who would come out on top, with the draw even possible, which explains the reaction of Molly-Mae’s friends and family.
That partner of the victor couldn’t bring herself to watch the fight, hiding in her bedroom, before being told by her mates, and you can see her reaction in the video below.
As well as being a very personal feud between the two men involved in the ring, things had also involved Molly-Mae quite heavily in the build up.
It was of course people who aren’t boxing, or probably sports, fans who were just learning of the time sacrificed by boxers ahead of their big fights.
There were plenty of people willing to defend the fight, and the quality of it, but at least Carl Froch was willing to call it out somewhat.
In reality, it was like paying pay-per-view prices to watch Sunday league football, and we could see it all again if Paul does enact his rematch clause, yippee…
