Mohamed Salah and Sergio Ramos reunited at the 2022 Global Soccer Awards in Dubai, four years after Ramos’ infamous tackle in the Champions League final.
The Egyptian forward recently labelled it “the worst moment in my career”.
In the first half of the 2018 Champions League final between Liverpool and Real Madrid, Salah was forced off in tears with a shoulder injury after a collision with the centre-back.
Los Blancos went on to lift Europe’s most prestigious prize after a 3-1 win against Jurgen Klopp’s side at the Olimpiyskiy Stadium, but it was that incident involving Ramos and Salah in the first-half that grabbed the headlines.

Ramos was sat in front of Salah at a UEFA ceremony in Monaco when he picked up the 2017/18 Champions League Best Defender of the Season award.
In fact, just moments after going up on stage to collect his award, Ramos touched Mo Salah on the shoulder, although the Egyptian didn’t look too impressed by his actions. Whoever organised the seating plan for that event was clearly in a very mischievous mood.
And on Thursday night, at the 2022 Global Soccer Awards in Dubai, Salah and Ramos bumped into each other again ahead of the show as Zlatan Ibrahimovic watched on.
Salah went on to be crowned TikTok Fan’s Player of the Year, beating the likes of Erling Haaland and Karim Benzema to the award, but it was this moment with Ramos that went viral online.
As you can see in the footage below, the pair appear to have put their differences behind them four years on, but it was still a tad awkward considering their past.
One fan commented on the clip, saying: “Mo Salah is humble enough for not holding any grudge against Ramos. That’s show how professional he is,” while another wrote: “Probably the fakest hug I’ve seen is between Ramos and Salah.”
