Manchester United and Liverpool have been told what it will take to sign Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven.
Gakpo is arguably the player of the tournament so far at this year’s World Cup in Qatar for the Netherlands.
He scored in each of their group stage games and will face the United States of America on the weekend in the round of 16.
Romano: They want…
Speaking to the United Stand, transfer guru Romano has said it will cost €50 million guaranteed up front to sign Gakpo from PSV in January.
Romano has also tweeted: “There are chances for Cody Gakpo to leave PSV already in January. Original plan was to sell him in the summer but could change after excellent World Cup.
“Man United remain in contact with his agents. There are 3/4 clubs in the race.”
Gakpo admits he has spoken to Ten Hag
He previously spoke on the topic and said: “I was close to leaving, I spoke to Erik ten Hag a few times at Manchester United.
“In the end the deal didn’t go through, which was a shame, for me and my development, and because Manchester United is one of the biggest clubs in the world, but also for PSV, because to transfer a player to Manchester United is a good thing for the club,” Gakpo said.
“It ended about a week before the end of the transfer window and in that week I had to decide if I would go to Leeds or Southampton.
“In the end I stayed, but it was a stressful period.”
