Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker was left red-faced after an infamous pornographic noise was played during BBC’s live broadcast ahead of the FA Cup tie between Wolves and Liverpool.

Joined in the studio by Paul Ince and Danny Murphy, Lineker raised his voice when the sound played out and even laughed a little after acknowledging the loud porn noises.

Lineker attempted to control the situation while speaking to Alan Shearer, saying it’s “toasty in this studio” and “it’s a bit noisy” before the sound eventually disappeared.

“I don’t know who’s making that noise,” he said, before breaking out into an uncomfortable smile.

Lineker added: “Alan, it’s toasty in the studio and it’s a bit noisy as well.

“I don’t know if someone’s sending something on someone’s phone, I think. I think it’s a joke. I don’t know if you heard it at home.”

Footage of the outrageous moment quickly made the rounds on social media (watch it in the video player above), with Lineker reacting to the incident later on.

Posting a picture of an old-school phone, he tweeted: “Well, we found this taped to the back of the set. As sabotage goes it was quite amusing.”

Fans also shared their thoughts on social media.

“Don’t know what’s more surprising the fact BBC have just been blasting porn through speakers or the fact we’ve scored first,” one fan said.

Someone else added: “Well, BBC 1, my girlfriend just screamed at me from the kitchen, accusing me of watching porn. Can’t a man watch football in peace?”

A third added: “What a bizarre last half hour this has been. Constant porn noises in the BBC studio, the lights going out at the start of the game, and now Liverpool opening the scoring.”

“Cheers [BBC] just had a mouthful from the missus claiming I was watch porn on my phone,” a fourth posted.

And a fifth tweeted: “Porn playing on BBC 1 during the football was not what I had on my 2023 list but alright.”

Wolves host Liverpool at the Molineux for their third-round FA Cup replay, with kick-off slated for 7:45pm UK time.
