Arsenal star Granit Xhaka has warned his Gunners teammates he will not go easy on them when Switzerland face Brazil in the World Cup.
Both sides began their respective campaigns with victories, with Switzerland beating Cameroon 1-0 and Brazil winning 2-0 against Serbia.
Swiss captain Xhaka will come up against some familiar faces when his side take on Brazil on Monday, with Arsenal forwards Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli part of the Brazilian squad.
Speaking ahead of the match, Xhaka warned his club teammates to prepare for a rough encounter in Doha.
Xhaka: I will smash you!
He said: “I told Gabby Martinelli and Gabby Jesus if you are running one on one against our goalkeeper I will smash you!
“It doesn’t matter that we are playing in the same team. This is the Word Cup. You play for your own team, you play for your own country and you want to win.
“Of course, they were worried. They know me. If I smash you, it will be very, very hard.”
Switzerland, meanwhile, have no fresh injury concerns and could line up with the same formation that beat Cameroon.
Xhaka is well aware of the size of the task facing his teammates against Brazil.
“I expect a different game. If you see the Brazil players, they can put out three teams,” he said.
“They have the quality, they have big talents that are coming through, but they know us as well, that it is not always easy to play against us and we want to give them as difficult a game as possible and hopefully we can turn something around for us.”
