Fans have hailed Alan Shearer as the Premier League’s greatest ever striker after a compilation video of some of his most memorable goals went viral on social media.
Shearer scored 379 goals in 734 appearances over the course of his 19-year professional career, which including spells at Southampton, Blackburn Rovers and most famously Newcastle United.
The former England international remains the all-time record goalscorer in the Premier League with 260 goals – 52 clear of his closest rival, former Everton and Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney.

It includes Shearer’s famous long-range goal against Chelsea in 2004 and his sensational volley against Aston Villa in 2001.
Meanwhile, the goal that Shearer has described as the best of his career – his thumping volley against Everton in 2002 – features at the end of the compilation. Check it out below.
The video has sparked a debate between football supporters over which striker is the best in Premier League history, with many naming Shearer.
“Still the greatest to grace the English top flight for me. Legend,” wrote one fan on Twitter.
Another added: “You do realise, that Shearer is the man, right? Many come close. But noone surpasses the man. Look at the stats.”
A third wrote: “This is why the [Harry] Kane v Shearer debate is a none starter. The answer will always be Shearer.”
While another added: “The best British striker, end of.”
