Fans of English clubs are terrified of potentially facing Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League last 16 after the Ligue One outfit finished second by the narrowest of margins.

Having beaten Juventus 2-1 in Turin, PSG recorded 14 points from six games, winning four and drawing two. They scored 16, conceded seven and had a goal difference of nine as a result.

A 92nd minute strike from former Inter Milan and West Ham midfielder Joao Mario meant that Benfica topped the group on away goals.

PSG will be livid that they finished second in their group for the second year running but of all the runners up, they are definitely the team group winners want to avoid.

Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, Neymar and the crew could come up against Manchester City, Real Madrid, Chelsea, Spurs, Napoli, Porto or Bayern Munich.

PSG were second to City in Group A last season after accruing 11 points from six games. They managed 14 and didn’t lose a game this time around but will still have to come up against a group winner.

They were leading Real 2-0 on aggregate at one point in last season’s round of 16 before Karim Benzema came up clutch with a stunning hat-trick that knocked them out and moved Los Blancos closer to a 14th European crown.
