erik-ten-hag-is-overseeing-‘wrong-foot’-training-at-man-utd-with-senior-players-taking-part

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is encouraging his players to develop their weaker foot with special training sessions.

The 52-year-old is putting on special drills after the main squad sessions, according to the Manchester Evening News.

Ten Hag has already attempted to overhaul United’s style of play and they’re noticeably crisper and quicker on the ball compared to last season.

It’s believed left-back Luke Shaw is one of the senior players taking part in the sessions and keen to improve.

Antony, as well as Casemiro, have been credited with increasing intensity in training following their arrivals last month.

Ten Hag has already changed the attitude around Carrington with many thinking players were allowed to be complacent under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The former Ajax boss is described as ‘unforgiving’ when it comes to professionalism and is direct with his decision making.

Solskjaer’s failure to be direct saw him make promises to players that he couldn’t keep. It resulted in some venting their frustrations in the dressing room.

“[The club should] encourage competition in the dressing room, not just look out for some. I’ve always had the feeling that the national player was prioritised.

“That doesn’t happen at Chelsea or other big Premier League clubs. Some people take it for granted that they are going to start, and that weakens the team. Luckily [Erik] Ten Hag has a lot of character and I hope he can change that dynamic.

“I met Erik Ten Hag in the dressing room at the end of last season when he went to sign his contract.

“I was packing my things because my intention was to leave, but he told me he wanted me to stay because he was going to give minutes to everyone.

The Red Devils are currently fifth in the Premier League after winning their last four games.
