dean-henderson-says-he-wants-to-face-man-utd-more-than-any-other-team,-his-outbursts-are-getting-wilder

Dean Henderson has claimed he wants to face parent club Manchester United more than any other team as the goalkeeper continues his absolute rampage in interviews.

The 25-year-old joined Nottingham Forest on a season-long last month after being left ‘fuming’ by broken promises at Old Trafford.

Henderson claims to have been told he would be first-choice goalkeeper ahead of David de Gea after Euro 2020, but he didn’t make a single Premier League appearance all campaign.

With a chip on his shoulder he decided to seek pastures new and he’ll be part of Steve Cooper’s Forest side hoping to avoid relegation.

“It was as if you hadn’t missed a year of football because there was no fans, there was no supporters. It was as if it was a false league. It was COVID related, it was uncontrollable really.

“I can’t wait to get out there, for me personally being a caged animal for the last year.”

When asked who he wanted to go ‘toe to toe’ with most, Henderson replied: “It’d be Man United but I can’t play that game unfortunately! That’s me being honest with you, it’d be Man United.”

Loan players are not eligible to play their parent clubs in the Premier League and it means Henderson will be on the sidelines when United host Forest on Boxing Day.

The former Sheffield United loanee explained: “I didn’t want him to see me in training. Because I knew that he probably wanted to keep me.

“So, I told the hierarchy that I need to play football, I don’t want to be here and play second fiddle.”

Henderson played 26 games in all competitions in the 2020/21 campaign, ending the term as first-choice as United finished second and reached the Europa League final.

He made three appearances in 2021/2022 and was even substituted in a Champions League clash with Young Boys.
