christian-eriksen-scores-free-kick-as-man-united-beat-wrexham-in-behind-closed-doors-friendly

Christian Eriksen netted a trademark free-kick on his unofficial Manchester United debut on Wednesday afternoon during a behind-closed-doors friendly.

And the Danish international opened his account for the Reds with a first-half free-kick – the perfect start to life at Old Trafford following his productive spell at Brentford last season.

Wrexham defender Aaron Hayden equalised for Phil Parkinson’s men and moments later, the defender pulled off the Cristiano Ronaldo ‘SIUUU’ celebration, according to Twitter user @RobRyanRed.

It was a strong first-half showing from The Dragons but a youthful United bagged three goals after the break.

Amad Diallo and Alex Telles also netted for United as they continued their impressive pre-season campaign ahead of next weekend’s Premier League opener against Brighton.

Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and Harry Maguire also watched on alongside the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.

Ten Hag also handed new £55 million signing Lisandro Martinez his first minutes in a United jersey, just hours after they officially announced his arrival from Ajax.

The centre-back has penned contract until June 2027, with the option to extend for a further year.

After signing the deal, Martinez said: “It’s an honour to join this great football club. I’ve worked so hard to get to this moment and, now that I’m here, I’m going to push myself even further.

“I’ve been lucky enough to be part of successful teams in my career and that’s what I want to continue at Manchester United. There will be a lot of work to get to that moment, but I firmly believe that, under this manager and coaches, and together with my new team-mates, we can do it.

“I want to thank Ajax and their fans for all the support they gave me. I had an unbelievable time there but feel the moment is right to test myself in another environment. Now I am at the perfect club to do this.”
