“brighton’s-stance…”-–-sky-sports-journalist-drops-caicedo-update-as-‘arsenal-bid-rejected’

Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth has offered an update on Brighton’s stance over Moises Caicedo amid reported interest from Arsenal.

The Ecuador international has been a hot topic this January, with Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle and Liverpool all thought to be interested in the midfielder.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta mentioned his desire to sign a midfielder during his press conference on Wednesday, and it looks as though he has identified his target in Caicedo.

Brighton’s stance on Caicedo revealed

Now, Sky Sports journalist Sheth, has the latest from Brighton’s camp, tweeting: “Brighton’s stance on Moises Caicedo unchanged following £60m from Arsenal.

“No intention of selling – not for sale.”

Arsenal’s bid comes shortly after The Times reported that Chelsea had a £55million bid rejected for the Caicedo, who featured at the World Cup in Qatar.

Brighton are thought to want an eye-watering £100million if they are to see Caicedo leave the Amex, having already lost Leandro Trossard to Arsenal this month.

Manager Roberto De Zerbi reiterated his desire to keep Caicedo last week, but admitted he was unsure about the player’s long-term future.

He explained (quotes via 90min): “Moises is very important to us. It is difficult to change with another player now at this stage. I hope he finishes the season with us, but it’s always difficult to be certain.

“When big teams want our players, it’s good news for the club. The best solution is that he finishes the season with us and for him, in the summer, it’s better then if he changes teams.

“I don’t know if he continue to play like this – the last games – it is possible he can leave for another team [in the summer window].”
