Canelo scored a clear victory over Golovkin to go 2-0-1 in their legendary trilogy.

Or that’s what it seemed as the judges had the super-middleweight world title bout a LOT closer.

Scores from the judges were inexplicably 115-113, 115-113, and 116-112 in favor of Canelo.

Needless to say, the horrendous scorecards sent social media into overdrive.

One Twitter user wrote: “115-113 is crazy.”

A second tweeted: “How did the scorecards get so close?”

A third added: “Huh?! All three of those scorecards are dreadful!”

A fourth commented: “Terrible. Was never a 7-5 fight. Was closer to 10-2.”

Canelo and Golovkin are once again involved in a close fight, with the trilogy most likely ending their historic rivalry.

In beating the Kazakh fighter, Canelo defended his WBA (super), WBC, IBF, WBO and The Ring Magazine titles.

He also returns to the win column following his defeat to Dmitry Bivol earlier in the year.

As for Golovkin, he suffers just the second defeat of his storied career, having reeled off four wins in a row following his first loss to Canelo in 2018.
