Man United have been tipped to sign Sporting Lisbon youngster Abdul Atawu Issahaku.

Sporting’s exciting prospect has been likened to Bruno Fernandes and he has been described as ‘a real name to watch’ by The Guardian’s Ed Aarons.

Atawu Issahaku only recently joined the Portuguese giants but it appears he may have already caught the eye of United boss Erik ten Hag.

Ten Hag spent over £200million in his first transfer window in charge and could splash a further £52million on the Sporting youth talent as that is the figure in Atawu Issahaku’s release clause.

The Ghanaian signed a five-year contract with Sporting despite ‘interest’ from Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen.

Who else is interested in the midfielder?

Issahaku has also reportedly received offers from clubs in Italy, Austria, Switzerland and Qatar.

For Sporting this season he has made six appearances, one of which was a short 20-minute cameo against Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League group stages.

Sporting were knocked out of the Champions League and will face Danish side FC Midtjylland in the Europa League knockout round in February.

He has also represented his national team 13 times despite being just 18 years old.

In an interview with GiveMeSport, Aarons from the Guardian was asked whether the 18-year-old could play for a Premier League club.

“I think Manchester United, eventually, in that Bruno Fernandes sort of role just behind the striker, scoring lots of goals,” he said.

“He had an amazing record in the Ghanaian league. He was playing men’s football very young and scored loads of goals in that number 10 position. He is a real name to watch.”

United could do with some more attacking options, especially after their 3-1 defeat at Villa Park on the weekend.
