Christian Eriksen channeled his inner Paul Scholes with a passing masterclass in Manchester United’s 3-1 win against Arsenal – and a compilation of his performance is going viral on social media.

The 30-year-old midfielder, who joined United on a free transfer this summer after an impressive 2021/22 campaign at Brentford, has been a standout performer under Erik ten Hag in recent weeks.

Eriksen displayed composure in the middle of the park throughout, feeding the likes of Bruno Fernandes and Jadon Sancho going forward, but he also contributed defensively with some great interceptions, covering 11.2km in distance.

He eventually notched an assist for Marcus Rashford in the 75th minute to complete his Player of the Match performance.

Here’s a compilation of Eriksen’s impressive outing against Arsenal. The best free transfer of this summer’s window? Without doubt.

United fans have lauded Eriksen’s impact of late on social media and the aftermath of Sunday’s win was no different. One fan said: “Absolute brilliant performance. Something we have been missing for years.”

Another commented: “Not the most flashy but the most important player in that midfield imo. Class comp,” while a third wrote: “I never thought I’d witness another [Paul] Scholes at Old Trafford.”

A fourth said: “Both Man United goals have come from quick passes forward from Eriksen. Looks so simple but it’s not. Technical ability combined with awareness.”

After the final whistle, Eriksen spoke to Sky pundit and former Manchester United captain Roy Keane in an entertaining post-match interview.

Keane introduced himself by saying he had “no questions” for the Dane because he’s “still upset” over scoring a hat-trick against Ireland in 2017.

Eriksen replied: “Yeah, I thought so,” before Keane hilariously hit back: “I’m still upset with you.”

And it didn’t stop there. Eriksen, who has been one of United’s standout performers since his arrival from Brentford this summer, quipped: “It’s a good night out as well, Dublin.”

“…Yeah, I bet you did,” Keane smiled.
